The American actor Jim Parsons talked about his ethnicity in an interview. Back in 2013, TLC’s “Who Do You Think You Are,” he traced his family history and origin.

He discovered French heritage from his father’s side. Parsons mentioned Jim’s sixth great-grandfather is the French architect Louis-François Trouard (1729–1804).

Parsons was born on March 24, 1973, at St. Joseph Hospital in Houston, Texas.

He grew up in the northern suburbs, Spring, with his father, Milton Joseph “Mickey/Jack” Parsons Jr, and his mother, Judy Ann (née McKnight).

Jim’s paternal grandfather was Milton Joseph Parsons, Sr., who is the son of Thaddeus Paul Parsons and Jeanne Mary Hacker.

Jeanne belonged to mostly French and some German descent. She was the daughter of Charles Pierre and Peter Mayer Hacker, who had French ancestors.

Followingly, his maternal grandmother Wilma Dene, daughter of Samuel Gordon Eckman and Zulah LaPrincess Carter, was born in Texas.

His maternal grandfather, James Allen McKnight, son of John Allen McKnight and Lonnie Dee Powers/Power, was also from Texas.

Parsons lost his father, Milton Joseph, in a car crash on April 29, 2001. He remembers his dad as a very hardworking and very loyal person.
